A Comical View Of Cave Man Stress.
How did stresses affect the cave man of history?
In the days of the cave man physical reactions to strong emotions were present within them to save them from imminent dangers. Come the stone-age, early man had reactions designed to either, protect himself, fight or flee. These choices of reactions were an essential part of the stone-age man as hunted for food and of course, himself being hunted by the wild predators of the stone-age.
Nowadays of course, although we aren't quite being hunted in the same way, we still feel it has similar effects, all produced by the 21st centuries stresses. As we experience stress much in the same way our ancestors did, our heart beat rises as well as blood pressure. We begin to sweat and breathe heavily. Our senses are on high alert to any imminent dangers.
If you are under the influence of stress for a prolonged period and too often then it could lead to even more anxiety at more unexpected times. Stress is a condition that is unique in its effects on different people and their personalities. We all act differently to modern day stresses and it may depend upon your personality. Some people are able to cope with stress better than others.
Affects Of Stress
Ok so, if you were a stone-age homo-sapien in the midst of a running battle with the predator of the day, how would your emotions and feelings react?
Definitely butterflies in the stomach sure.
Perhaps a chest pain or other unexplained pain. Might be true if you are perhaps pierced by a saber tooth. Sweating with perhaps muscle tension.
More Physical Reactions To Stress
- Sleeping Problems
- Headaches
- Over-Alertness
- Digestion problems like Diarrhea.
Not all of us are affected while under stress and I wonder how stone age homo-sapiens handled such strong reactions.
