What is Milk Exactly?
Milk is a whitish liquid containing proteins, fats, lactose, and various vitamins and minerals that is maternally secreted by the mammary glands of all mature female mammals after they have given birth and serves as nourishment for their young. I do agree that it's really not natural for humans to drink cow's milk.
Milk is produced for one kind of consumer, and they are calves. Cow's milk is for transforming a 65lb baby calf into a huge 400 lb cow and I think it highly unlikely it's intended for mass human consumption any more than, rat's milk or elephants milk. Funnily enough, cow's actually chomp through plants to get their source of calcium, you'd never ever see a 400 lb cow stomping around the fields looking for some milk. They are big and strong from their diet of plants.
Is Cow's Milk Unsafe To Drink?
I do think that there are many reliable sources of information regarding the safety of milk consumption. The greatest source maybe that of the study of nature and the animal kingdom as well as the study of the history of our own species. Lastly, we could also examine the world's scientific literature on the subject of milk. To begin with I'd like to point out that long term efforts of the dairy industry to prove that the high calcium content of dairy products builds strong bones have been largely unsuccessful in proving any such relationship. It has been a sustained attempt by the dairy industry to raise awareness that milk increases, strengthens bones and therefore prevents osteoporosis.
However, it's quite the opposite, it's the chemicals that are found in milk that inhibit calcium absorption. If you look at the animal kingdom, you'll see that there's no other animal that drinks milk beyond childhood. This is probably a reason you will find no other animal that suffers from osteoporosis. In the past, I along with millions of others have been social conditioned to drink milk throughout all our adult lives. Countries that consume high protein diets (meat, milk and dairy) have the highest rates of osteoporosis.
I won't go into much detail about the diseases that milk causes. We should all be aware though, that heart attacks, strokes, and high blood pressure are six times more likely in milk drinkers. Leukemia, asthma and osteoporosis have links to dairy products. As well as digestive problems such as I have myself.
How about the fact that cow's milk is allowed to have feces in it. This is a major source for bacteria. Milk is typically pasteurized more than once before it gets to your table and each time for only 15 seconds at 162 degrees Fahrenheit. Keep a note that at room temperature the number of bacteria in milk double around every 20 minutes. So, of course, that's why milk turns sour very quickly. I won't mention much about how cows are literally pumped full of hormones and antibiotics in order to maintain health and provide a steady supply of milk which is probably about 10 times more than a cow could ever have achieved over 100 years ago.
So don't think that you are drinking milk for health. According to my own modest research I really have come to my own conclusion that it doesn't do much good to drink milk and can only reduce your diet's nutritional value and safety. I'm writing about this not to expect people to change and not to drink milk anymore. I would expect that to be a difficult transition for some as we have all been conditioned since childhood, but for me, I must find a substitute and believe I already have.
